Programs
Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health System provides treatment for
a wide variety of psychiatric disorders in a safe, secure, and
nurturing environment. Although our patients have different issues,
there are core components to the program that are consistent for
all. Every patient receives a psychiatric evaluation, case
management, and discharge planning as well as therapeutic services
such as individual, group and family therapy. Other services
include neurological evaluation, psychological evaluation, speech
and language assessments, medical history, physical examination,
medication management, dietary consultation, and an individualized
treatment plan.

Children Services (ages 4-11)
- Acute Program - Short-term crisis
stabilization and assessment program for children in danger of
harming themselves or others or who have a history of treatment
failures
- Residential Program - Long-term therapeutic
program for children who have maladaptive behavior and emotional
problems, and are in need of a safe and highly supervised
environment.
- Reactive Attachment Disorder Program
- Provides
residential psychiatric treatment to children with attachment
disorders in a specialized program utilizing the Dyadic
Developmental Psychotherapy “DDP” Model and the Neuro-developmental
Trauma Model.
Adolescent Services (ages 12-17)
- Acute Program - Short-term crisis
stabilization and assessment program for children in danger of
harming themselves or others or who have a history of treatment

program for children who have maladaptive behavior and emotional
problems, and are in need of a safe and highly supervised

- Provides
residential psychiatric treatment to children with attachment
disorders in a specialized program utilizing the Dyadic
Developmental Psychotherapy “DDP” Model and the Neuro-developmental
Trauma Model.
- Autism Spectrum Disorder/Neuro Program
- Provides residential
psychiatric treatment to adolescents with autism spectrum
disorders/ neurological based psychiatric disorders in a
specialized program that includes directed treatment towards
symptoms of autism and/or brain injury, education and support of
the family in the management of the adolescent, and identification
of the broader needs of the individual.
- Lower Functioning
Adolescents - Provides
residential psychiatric treatment to adolescents with psychiatric
disorders and co-morbid developmental delays including severe
learning disabilities, borderline IQ, and mental retardation. The
evaluation process includes assessing the interaction between
developmental problems and psychiatric symptoms. The goal is to
develop a specialized treatment plan based on each adolescent’s
specific strengths and weaknesses.

H.O.P.E. Program - Provides residential
psychiatric treatment to adolescents with psychiatric disorders and
co-morbid developmental delays, including severe learning
disabilities, borderline IQ, and mental retardation.
- "Thresold for Change" - Residential Program
for Sexually Reactive Disorders - Long-term therapeutic program for
male adoescents with a history of sexual abuse trauma and
exhibition of inappropriate sexually maladaptive behavior.
Community-Based
Services
- Therapeutic Foster Care - Provides family
living and specialized services to children and youth who otherwise
would be placed in institutional or residential group settings.
These youth with special psychological, Social, and emotional needs
can accept and respond to the close relationships within a family
setting; however their special needs require more intensive or
therapeutic services than are found in traditional foster care. If

- Outpatient Services - After-school therapy
groups are offered at four locations: Hospital, North Tulsa,
Sapulpa and Oklahoma City. These programs are offered to children,
adolescents and adults.
- Individualized Treatment Services (Respite
Care) - A 72-hour program in Norman for adolescents referred by the
Oklahoma Department of Human Services.
Education
Shadow Mountain Behavioral Health System is accredited by the
Oklahoma Department of Education. Tulsa Public School District and
Shadow Mountain provide the school jointly. The k-12 academic
program includes a regular education and special education
curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our patients. Adolescents
and children in the acute program continue academic studies during
hospitalization. They remain enrolled in their home school and
complete homework assignments. They receive daily tutoring.
Progress reports are sent to the home school so they can resume
their normal academic schedule upon returning home. Vocational
training, drug education and theater arts are available
electives.

Eagle Creek Treatment Program
Eagle Creek Treatment Program is a service of Shadow Mountain
Behavioral Health System. The program is dedicated to meeting the
cultural specific needs of adolescent males ages 12 to 17.
Our approach combines modern treatment methods with traditional
culture. Studies demonstrate improved results when culture is a key
component of the treatment program.
